About Craig

About Craig

From investigative journalist to independent candidate — the story of why one Glaswegian decided to take the fight from the camera to the chamber.

From Outside the System to Inside It

Craig Houston is a Glasgow-based investigative journalist, political commentator, and the voice behind Craig Houston Talks To — one of Scotland’s largest independent news channels with over 92,000 subscribers and 27 million views.

Craig’s journey into politics began in November 2023, when the Michael Matheson expenses scandal exposed the rot at the heart of Scottish governance. Like millions of Scots, he was sick of watching politicians dodge accountability. Unlike most people, he decided to do something about it.

What started as a YouTube channel delivering news without the spin became a movement. Craig built his audience by asking the questions the mainstream media refused to touch — from the SNP’s financial scandals to Glasgow City Council’s failures on housing, schools, and public safety.

Why Stand as an Independent?

Craig believes the party system is broken. Whips tell MSPs how to vote. Donors tell parties what to say. The people of Glasgow deserve a representative who answers to them alone — not a party machine.

As an independent MSP, Craig would have no party line to toe, no donors to appease, and no career ladder to climb. His only obligation would be to the constituents who elected him — and the truth.

I’ve spent years holding politicians to account from the outside. Now I want to do it from the inside — with the full power of parliamentary scrutiny behind me.
